The Links at Bodega Harbour

We cap off the regular season on the coast at The Links at Bodega Harbour in Bodega Bay — a Robert Trent Jones Jr. design that is about as close to Scotland as you can get without a passport. Native coastal rough, rolling fairways, multi-tiered greens and more than ninety pot bunkers will have you hitting shots you never practice: low runners, half-wedges into the breeze, and the occasional prayer. The finish is a spectacular closing three holes running right to the edge of the Pacific, with the short par-3 17th playing across a tidal wetland and the ocean in full view. October is the coast's best-kept secret: the summer fog has thinned out, the air is clear, and the turf is firm and fast. Our 11:30am tee times give the marine layer all morning to burn off, so you should get the views along with the golf. Pack a windbreaker, leave the driver in the bag more often than you'd like, and enjoy one of Northern California's genuine bucket-list rounds.
